GT OmniPort in Texas
GeoMetrix Rail Logistics Inc. is announcing the exciting addition of GT Rail Inc. to its expanding customer base.
CALGARY, AB, September 5, 2012 – GeoMetrix Rail Logistics Inc. is announcing the exciting addition of GT Rail Inc. to its expanding customer base. With this newly formed relationship, GeoMetrix is taking on the responsibility of tracking thousands of railcars within this massive new private facility in Port Arthur, TX.
GeoMetrix software will allow each of the up to 5000 railcars this yard handles to be tracked remotely from company headquarters in Calgary, AB. Working with the GT Rail’s stationary AEI (Automatic Equipment Identification) tag reader, GeoMetrix will be able to provide timely and accurate accounts of railcar arrivals and departures in the yard.
Once a tag is scanned, the data is automatically relayed back to the database at GeoMetrix Calgary. Within minutes, the information is live on GeoMetrix giving the yard operators at the Port Arthur facility the most up-to-date information on the status, location and availability of railcars for their loads.
GT Rail’s new facility is a receiving hub for transporters of crude oil and other products. The GT OmniPort can handle up to 20 unit trains a month with additional space for short and long term storage and, once completed, facilities for transloading railcars to trucks.
The location and capabilities of the OmniPort focus on efficiency and economics. Having GeoMetrix rail supply chain management technology as an integrated fixture of this multi-modal yard will ensure those goals are met. Through GeoMetrix and GT Rail, customers who transport bulk commodities via the rail shipment industry will have access to the most important information they need to reach their goals.
